Children getting a good nights sleep is extremely beneficial for the child as well as for their Parents! Not only is it necessary for the growth & development of the child's brain and body but it's necessary for parents to have an chance to relax and restore themselves. A lot of Parents don't find this important or relevant but it can be very beneficial for their overall health as well as for their relationship. The average amount of sleep required for toddlers and preschoolers is between 10 - 12 hours a night. Just imagine what you can get done in that time!
Take time out for.....YOURSELF! It's ok to take time out in your day for yourself. Give yourself permission & plan to do things such as relax, take a bath, meditate, exercise or go out with a friend. If we don't stop the insanity cycle once and a while, we can be left feeling 'burnt out'! Remember, your children are watching you every day. They are observing how we deal with daily situations; the anxieties, the chaos, the ups & the downs and the choices we make for ourselves. By taking some time out to relax and rejuvenate, you would be teaching a valuable lesson to your children in respecting yourself as a whole person and giving value to yourself. What great role modeling for your children!
