Learning as you grow is part of life however, with the new style of parenting called "SNOWPLOW PARENTING", it leaves little room for the child to learn even the most basic of life skills. Snowplow parenting is when a parent 'barges in' or 'takes over ' when a child isn't getting what they want or is needing to solve a problem. This doesn't mean don't comfort your child in times of need, that is absolutely still has a lot of benefit, but it is allowing some SPACE & TIME around the child's PROBLEMS for the child to learn on their own; to problem solve, to use their words or ask for help. It's more about a CHILD-LED approach versus a PARENT-LED approach to problem solving.
