Have you ever found yourself chasing after your child with their summer hat dangling from your fingertips? Have you ever repeated yourself millions of times to ‘keep your hat on’? Miss Behaviour: parenting coach & consultant services has discovered some ways to help keep that summer hat on!
TIPS TO HELP ENCOURAGE KIDS WEAR A HAT
1.) Have the child choose the hat so they feel that they have some ownership of it & feel more ‘in charge’.
2.) Create 3 simple rules with them for going outside and repeat them often such a "you need a hat, sunscreen & water before you go outside!" Before they can go out, they need to have all 3 sorted out.
3.) Explain that the hat is on before you go out and then taken off after
you come back indoors. Children like to know the expectation beforehand.
4.) Slather them in sunscreen and play in shady areas so they don’t need a hat to begin with.
