As an Early Childhood Consultant, I have seen over and over again the demand Parents put on their children (even at a very young age) to say ‘please & thank you’ to everyone and for everything! But to me, that is just being polite. The skill of gratitude, being grateful for what you already have, is almost non-existent. Who is teaching our children gratitude? Religion, schools, society, the media? Giving & being grateful is what brings more into our lives. Chasing it (like it’s running out) is what keeps getting ‘more in life’ from us. How many children do you know that hold the ‘attitude of gratitude’? Wouldn’t that be a great gift to give this year?
